There are many endangered animals on earth, which play important roles in the environment and in our lives as well. Humans are the main cause of these animals becoming extinct but with the help of caring people, some of these animals have increased in number and have been taken off the endangered species list. Many people think that they cannot do anything the help this poor animals, but they are wrong. There are many ways to save them or prevent them from becoming endangered or extinct. There are many endangered animals, they just come in different shapes and sizes. Ninety species of the earth’s creatures have become extinct. Just in the United States more than a dozen insects, mostly butterflies are on the endangered species list, along with over 50 species of fish, 100 reptiles, and amphibians, and over 300 mammals. More than 1,000 species are endangered worldwide, and over 100 of these animals become extinct every day. Scientists estimate that the total number of species lost to extinction each year may climb to 40,000 by the year 2000. One of these mammals is the tiger which lives in a temperature and habitat that is being destroyed. Some animals are the jaguar, cheetah, snow leopard, Amur leopard, Siberian tiger, etc. They live in many parts of the world, the cheetah is found in Africa, the jaguar is found in the USA and Central and South America, and the snow leopard is found in the mountains of Central Asia. The blue whale is one of the many mammals that are endangered. They live in oceans but are becoming extinct because they are being overhunted for food, blubber, and whale oil. The Giant Panda has a slow reproduction rate that has played a major role in the endangerment of the panda. The Asiatic Lion is native to Turkey and India is endangered because of overhunting and loss of habitat. The Aye-Aye is a cute little animal that looks like a Gremlin with a long tale, has been put on the endangered species list because its habitat in Madagascar is being lost. Another cute little animal that is on the endangered species list is Chinchilla which lives in Bolivia. If this little creature gets wet it will die and that is a big part of its problem. Another problem for the Chinchilla is that its habitat is being destroyed by humans. The Mission Blue Butterfly is one of the dozen insects on the endangered species list. It only lives in Oregon and is endangered because of habitat destruction. Most animals become endangered due to overhunting and loss of habitat, but some become endangered because of changes in the environment, pollution, and accidental kills. We need to protect these animals in one way or the other. We can save by following some simple steps

  1. Plant more trees.
  2. Spread awareness about these endangered animals.
  3. Always call the forest department if you see an injured animal or when you see a hunter.
  4. Testify against poachers and stop them from killing endangered animals.
  5. Avoid buying exotic pets as they are wild animals and are captured by poachers and then sold as babies. The poachers also kill the animal’s parents. Once you give the money to the poacher, they will be motivated by you to capture other baby animals. The forest department cannot do anything because the exotic pets are not from India but from other countries. So if no one buys any exotic pets all the exotic pet shops will shut down. And as no one will buy the poacher will not capture animals as no will buy he will not get any money.

These are the rules you can follow to protect endangered animals or prevent them from becoming endangered or extinct.
