bee-pollination

Every year the number of Almond trees increases so much that the local bees can’t pollinate them all. So, beekeepers bring thousands of bees to a single place to pollinate Almond trees or any other type of tree depending on the season. This may sound crazy, but the money the beekeepers get for renting out their bees for pollinating is billion dollars! This is why beekeepers have started renting bees more often. But there are a few disadvantages to this entire process.  First of all, when the bees are brought in the thousands this promotes the risk of diseases and parasites from one bee colony to another. Also, the bees don’t get enough nutrition just by pollinating one type of crop. The bees are also sickened by the pesticides. Due to this bee population has fallen in half and if this continues, our food source will be in jeopardy. We need to take some steps to save bees like:

  1. We can stop the use of pesticides.
  2. We can make sure they have a more diverse diet.
  3. We can help the bees by using something against diseases and parasites and that is called Propolis. They use this chemical to sanitize their hives. They do this on rougher surfaces. So, if the beekeepers outside surfaces are rough, it will motivate them to spread Propolis.

If we follow all of this, we can save the lives of bees and pollination.
