Rabies

Rabies

There is a disease spreading, a disease that is causing the death of hundreds of animals. It’s something that many people ignore and think is not important to cure. It’s spreading out of control but people are still not caring enough. Yes, it’s rabies. I am concerned about the spread of this disease. People only tell others about how to keep themselves safe from rabies-infected animals, they don’t think about the animal.  So let me explain what rabies is exactly, rabies is caused by a parasite that infects the brain, and it can be almost fatal when it reaches that point. It can spread through bites, saliva contact, etc.

It is truly a horrible disease. Many people think killing rabies-infected animals is better than being vaccinated. We do have a vaccine but rabies happens just about anywhere. Vaccinators will have to move extremely fast, rabies animals also become aggressive so catching them to vaccinate also becomes a big fuss. And with cases exploding it just becomes a whole huge mess. We need to get more vaccinators on the field and send vaccinators to high-risk areas first. I think that’s how we can make this more efficient.

Rabies is caused by a parasite; parasites are very hardy creatures.  Rabies-infected animals are often afraid of water, this is one of the symptoms. You may also spot red eyes, a drooling mouth, etc. Both wildlife and pets can get rabies and rabies-infected patients become very aggressive this leads to human-animal conflict which ends with the animal dying. The animal is already suffering, they sometimes beat the animal to death! You know, sometimes I lose hope in humanity when I see these things. How do these people even live with themselves knowing that they killed an innocent animal? It’s not the animal’s fault, we need to think logically, it’s caused by the parasite. We need to kill the parasite. What good will it do anyway to kill the animal? It doesn’t solve the problem anyway. So why kill it? That’s my question.

Rabies is still killing many animals today but we need to look for a solution that will help both humans and animals, we need to vaccinate them. We should be making more of these vaccines and there needs to be funding by governments so that we can make more efficient vaccines and medicines that can get rid of this parasite. If we build more vaccines and medicines, stop killing the animals that are infected and vaccinate them instead, and put more funding into the fight against this disease, then 1 day we will have a rabies-free world.
