Pest control industry

Pest control industry

There are many industries we use in our modern life. The fashion industry, the fur industry, the meat industry, the poaching industry, etc. All these industries have one thing in common. That thing is … they are all responsible for neglecting, exploiting and killing animals. However, many people are against these industries. But the industry I’m going to talk about today, there are little to no people against this industry.  And that industry is… drumroll, the Pest Control Industry. And you probably thought I was going to say something like the fossil fuel industry or the food industry. And that’s exactly what powers the Pest industry. The Pest control industry makes you think; hey, they are just pests, who cares if they die? This is what powers the Pest control industry.

Animal stereotypes fuels the Pest control industry. There are like a billion videos on YouTube going in the favor of the Pest control industry and explaining why the pest control industry is not killing wildlife and contaminating the planet. The animals and insects you are killing are a part of wildlife. Moreover, sometimes they spray too much pesticide and kill other animals and insects, which destroys the ecosystem and the food chain. In addition, the pest control industry is quite a rich industry, they are supported by the public and the government in all relatively all countries. This is why it is going to be especially hard to take down the Pest control industry.

In addition, the Pest control industry kills animals and insects in extremely brutal ways. For example, I saw a video where there was a cockroach infestation. The pest control person arrives, and the first thing he does is put a sticky thing where the cockroaches are. And they start to get stuck in it, I mean those cockroaches dying painfully. Cockroaches come because of garbage, instead of killing them, the pest control person could have told the house owners to get rid of the garbage that was in their house. That way there is no suffering, pain or death. I hate the word “pest” because no animal or insect is a pest; they are just trying to live a comfortable life like us humans.

Now this is quite depressing but there is hope. There are a few people who protest against the Pest control industry. These people are exposing the dark truth of the pest industry. And there are some people who, instead of killing them, coexist with them by either removing  their source of food so they go away or keeping food in tight containers so it doesn’t get contaminated or eaten. These are just two ways we can coexist with animals and insects without killing them. Rats, cockroaches, spiders, bees, termites, ants, etc.  These animals also have feelings and emotions just like us humans, this has been proven by years of scientific research. The fight against the pest control industry will be tough but I believe that one day we will be able to shut down the pest control industry and save millions of lives.
